Main Scripture: Luke 1:26-38, 46-55
Additional Scriptures: Luke 4:16-22, 25-27, Psalm 119:11
POINTS:
Mary:
A real human being
Marginalized
Humble
Slave-maid (no payment, no rights)
Has Godfidence (confidence in who God says you are)
The Christmas Spirit: The Christmas spirit is God stepping out of heaven to bring salvation to you and me, a group of undeserving nobodies because He loves us.
We get stuck on the Me in Merry and we miss the Anointed One of Christmas.
Christmas should offend your ego, self-righteousness, greediness, neediness, and desire for power and success.
To receive the good news of Christmas, you must come to Jesus poor.
What spills out of you when the unexpected happens in your life? What spilled out of Mary was praise.
There are 15 references to the Old Testament in Mary’s Song of Praise, therefore, Mary has studied and memorized scripture.
Mary is not immaculate, therefore, we must not worship her, we must instead, worship the God she worshipped.
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” (Luke 1:38)
