2 CORINTHIANS: Power in Leadership

POWER IN LEADERSHIP

July 2, 2023

Main Scripture: 2 Corinthians 2:12-3:6

Additional Scriptures: Proverbs 11:14, Jeremiah 20:9

POINTS:

  • A genuine leader is someone who has been knocked off the chariot of their own glory.

  • “The influencers might inspire you to live your best life but not make the best use of your life” Lee Stynem

  • A true leader looks like a prisoner in chains to Christ.

  • We are going to be conquered by something. Most of us are dragged along in the procession of our “if only’s”.

  • True leaders are those who have been humbled and conquered by the crucified King.

  • The sense of smell connects us to memory and attraction.

  • A Christian is someone who reminds people of Jesus (memory) and attracts them to Jesus.

  • 5 defining characteristics of the early church: Multiethnic. A sacrificial commitment to the poor and marginalized. Non-retaliatory. Against infanticide. Revolutionary sex-ethic.

  • To be the aroma of Christ means that we refuse to huddle together inside our church walls, and instead we go out in the world with God’s love, integrity, humility, and compassion.

  • Our lives transformed to be more like Christ is a letter of recommendation for a leader.

  • What melted your heart? It was Jesus stepping out of the chariot of His own glory and willingly led in chains to His death to pay the penalty for your sin.
