Flourish: The Discipline of Knowing the Will of God
THE DISCIPLINE OF KNOWING THE WILL OF GOD
Main Scripture: Psalm 25
Additional Scriptures: Romans 12:1-2, Ephesians 2:10, Hebrews 5:11-14, Psalm 46:10, John 10:27
POINTS:
Spiritual Disciplines help us to continually practice repentance.
God will instruct the faithful in the plans He has for them.
Everything about you is designed by God and for God.
We’ve elevated prophecy above other spiritual gifts because we want to know the plan.
We want guidance without the Guide.
The Bible talks more about the kind of person that God guides and less about how to get guidance.
4 Attributes of people guided by the Lord
They are saturated in scripture: You must be saturated in the word of God to distinguish the will of God.
They are humble: They want God more than anything else and have tied their identity to Christ’s performance.
They are obedient: They do what God says even when it doesn’t make sense.
They are relaxed: They know God’s grace is sufficient for every choice they make.
The attributes for knowing and following God’s will for your life are the same attributes you should look for in those from whom you receive counsel.
