Daniel: Boundaries & Bravery in Babylon

Main Scripture: Daniel 1:1-20

Additional Scriptures: Jeremiah 6:16, John 8:36, Luke 6:45, James 1:2-4

POINTS:

  • The goal of Babylonian indoctrination was to dismantle the people of God’s monotheistic belief system.

  • The world wants to redefine our vocabulary, value, and identity.

  • Daniel made a boundary line to keep him from being defiled. What defiles you?

  • Crisis is a fertilizer for whatever we’ve been planting, both good and bad.

  • What boundary lines do you have in place to keep you, your marriage, and your parenting from being defiled?

  • Key Principle #1: When we close the door to defilement, we open the door to development.

  • Key Principle #2: We will only be brave like Daniel if we know the God that Daniel knows.

  • Key Principle #3: We are God’s people first and foremost, we belong to God’s kingdom, first and foremost, and this is not our home, we are just passing through.
