Good Grief: Why do I feel so gloomy all the time?

Main Scriptures: 1 Kings 19

Additional Scriptures: Romans 8:33-37, Hebrews 1:14, 1 Peter 5:9, Like 1:78-79

POINTS:

  • Gloom is a darkness where you see no light or a state of despondency where you have no hope.

  • Gloom begins with a threat. These threats are known as a Jezebel.

  • Our body, soul, and spirit is threatened. Ultimately it is our hope that is being threatened.

  • To live victoriously against these threats we must go to God and have an honest conversation with Him about what we are feeling.

  • One way that God addresses our need in grief is through ministering angels who deliver what God has for us.

  • Threats can cause us to adopt a victim mentality. A victim's mentality is a mindset that you adopt because of negative circumstances that is producing self-pity.

  • A victim mentality come’s from isolation. We isolate ourselves from others and from God. This leads to misinformation.

  • God isn’t going to yell above the threat, but when you come to His mountain He will give you information to resist the threats of the enemy.

  • You are not alone!

  • God gives us the church to administer mercy in our time of grief.

  • God gives us Himself, bringing us out of the darkness of gloom and into His marvelous light.
