WHAT NARRATIVE ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

Main Scripture: Matthew 24

POINTS:

• When you are lost it is critical that you stop moving and get your bearings.

• Mental Fragmentation: A symptom that follows trauma. You can’t stay focused on one task for very long.

• Narratives: The internal stories we tell ourselves about what is going on and why it’s happening.

• Apocalypse: to reveal, disclose, or take off the cover (another word for revelation)

• Jesus warns that because of trials and tribulation, the love of most Christians will grow cold.

• We are living in the “LONG TIME” (last days).

• Jesus’ main concern for those living in the “LONG TIME” is that they don’t grow anxious and decide that obedience isn’t worth it.

• We must be alert for imposter saviors because we desire a quick fix.

• Comfort culture has made us less resilient than any other generation in history.

• To be alert our narrative must be our present circumstances in light of the future Jesus has promised us.

• Jesus tells us that we are to wait for our redemption by sowing Kingdom seeds in the hearts of those around us.

• Our Narrative: we are building a Kingdom Community where the poor, captive, broken, and oppressed find a future and a hope in Jesus Christ our Victor!
