RESILIENT: Where is apathy lurking?

Main Scripture: Matthew 13:3-9, 18;23, Ephesians 5:13-14

Additional Scriptures: John 16:32-33, Genesis 3:1-5,

POINTS:

  • Resilience: the capacity to withstand and recover quickly from difficulties by drawing our strength from Christ.

  • Willpower: drawing from our own strength and insight when we experience difficulty.

  • Many Christians are in a state of spiritual REM.

  • Apathy: a lack of interest, enthusiasm, and concern.

  • Satan slithers in and attacks our minds with an accusation about the character of God.

  • Satan comes in subtly, lulling us to apathy through accusations that feel true.

  • What accusations are you listening to right now?

  • First seed: Satan lulls us with distraction.

  • Second seed: Satan deceives us into rootlessness.

  • Each time we choose depth over hype, our roots are going deeper into Christ.

  • Third seed: Satan chokes us out with uncertainty, anxiety, and the deceitfulness of wealth.

  • Fourth seed: Persevering past distraction, shallowness, and the choking satan attacks us with to hearing and understanding the word so that we bear a great harvest (resilient).
