What are we allowing in the temple?

POINTS:

• The temple in Jerusalem was unique because it was the only place where you could meet God face to face and could offer sacrifices to pay for the breach in your relationship with God.

• The sacrificial system, although good, was incomplete because it was a temporary and partial provision. You couldn’t get too close to God and your time with Him was momentary.

• Jesus’ cleansing of the Temple shows that He is after a deeper and truer spiritual reality than what His people have settled for.

• The money changers, those selling the sacrifices, were not doing anything wrong in what they are doing. It is where they are doing it that is the problem.

• The way we can tell if we have depth in our relationship with God is by the amount of chaos going on in our temple.

• Depth of worship takes concentration.

• Do you pray or do you merely say your prayers? One leads to quietness and trust, the other to continued chaos and disorder.

• If you are a Christian, Jesus is the owner of your temple. The problem is that we still think we’re the owners.

• The rulership of Christ is not democratic or temporary.

• When Jesus is your king, all heaven will break loose in your life
