POINTS:
Christians who are following Jesus will always have a “THEN”.
If there is no wilderness THEN there is no real worship.
The wilderness is war.
Our enemy in the war is Satan. Not others and not ourselves.
The name Satan means the one who attacks.
Satan attacks us with doubt about our identity and purpose by doubting Christ’s substitution for us.
The Father quotes Psalm 2 and Isaiah 42 when He speaks to Jesus at His baptism, therefore, Jesus can say “It is written” to Satan.
The devil assaults Jesus’ substitution in the wilderness.
Satan wants us to treat Jesus as an example, not a substitute.
We are given the Word of God and the Spirit of God to help us fight Satan in the wilderness. IT IS WRITTEN.
Temptation is always a conversation before it is a decision. Who will you listen to?
The wilderness is an invitation to be satisfied with Christ.
