2 CORINTHIANS: The Power found in the Weakness of Humility
Power in Weakness
POWER IN THE WEAKNESS OF HUMILITY
August 3, 2023
Main Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:1-18
Additional Scriptures: 1 Kings 12:1-16
POINTS:
Paul’s appeal: to bear the humility of Christ by following His character and truth.
Satan’s appeal: he wants us to follow after him by being prideful.
We should view others through humility and not as our enemies.
When we compare ourselves to others or by our own standards we build pride and a false sense of humility and importance.
When we limit our boasting to who God is and what He has done we become meek and grateful and thankful for who He is and how He has saved and empowers us for His glory and purpose.
“Humility is not thinking less of ourselves; it is thinking of ourselves less.” CS Lewis
It is better to be humble than to be humbled.
We spread the Good News of the Gospel not by thinking and being proud of ourselves, but in who Jesus is and what He has done, and then by showing His character of Love, self-sacrifice, and humility.
Our whole purpose is to glorify God by furthering His Kingdom through the spreading of the Gospel.
If we try to lift ourselves up, we ruin the Gospel message. When we lift Him up, we draw all men unto Him.
