Main Scripture: Genesis 1:26-27, 2:18-25
Additional Scriptures: Ephesians 2:14, Hebrews 3:13
POINTS:
Relationships are primary to God and should be primary to us
God is not just a “Me,” but an “Us”, and we won’t be happy until we are not just a “me” but an “us.
We live in a sin-broken culture that views relationships as a means to an end, but Christianity views relationships as an end in itself.
Echo Chamber: An environment in which a person encounters only beliefs or opinions that coincide with their own so that their existing views are reinforced and alternative ideas are not considered.
We want refreshing when what we need is redirection.
We need a deep and abiding relationship with God because God is a God of intimacy, and we were created in His image.
God made us to have a need that even He couldn’t satisfy - He made us with a need that only other people could meet.
We don’t want accountability; we want anonymity.
We need people who see us often and can redirect us.
We cannot know ourselves by ourselves. We need a Christian community around us.
We need diversity in the body of Christ so that we can know Jesus more fully.
A healthy Christian community is a transparent community because they know that their identity in Christ is stable.
Outside of Christ, we engage in relationships in one of two ways: unashamed but not naked or naked and ashamed.
