Daniel: Fighting the Right Fight the Right Way
Main Scripture: Daniel 2:24-35, 44-46
Additional Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:4-11, Matthew 5:44, 7:24-27, Hosea 6:1-3
POINTS:
God tells the people of God to love the city of man for the sake of the city of God.
God calls us to neither separate nor assimilate, but instead to seek Shalom for the cities that we live in.
We are to seek Shalom (complete well-being) for our cities, this includes our enemies.
To seek true shalom we must walk in humility and hope.
God will often allow Christians to be taken out of power because power has gone to pride.
Like Nebuchadnezzar we all want to create a dazzling image of ourselves. When we let this desire lead, we end up building our own kingdoms and not the kingdom of God.
It is the motive of our heart that determines whether we will separate, assimilate, or seek Shalom for the city.
The Rock in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream is the Kingdom of God.
We are apart of the already and not yet Kingdom.
The church helps us see the already part of the Kingdom of God, but we must remember that we only see in part, therefore we are also apart of the not yet Kingdom.
Worship helps us to stay in a place of humility and hope.
