THE DISCIPLINE OF REMEMBERING
January 15, 2023
Main Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34
Additional Scriptures: Matthew 26:26-30, Revelation 12:11, John 6:35-40
POINTS:
Flourish: growing or developing in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.
Communion is where the living Word and living worship converge to release the power of Christ’s presence.
When we participate in Communion we are to follow Christ’s example of servanthood and generosity.
We remember that Christ’s victory is our victory.
We remember that because of Christ we have victory now and victory is coming.
The quality of our praise and thanks should be proportionate to Christ’s victory on the cross.
We remember that we are redeemed.
By remembering our redemption we anticipate His second coming and start living in that reality and hope.
We remember that we are completely dependent on Christ.
We remember to examine our attitude toward others, ourselves, and God.
We cannot partake of the Lord’s body when our heart is divided toward the very people for whom Jesus allowed Himself to be broken.
Taking Communion in a worthy manner means coming to the Lord’s table with the full weight of your understanding and faith
