Becoming His Created

Main Scriptures: 2 Cor. 5:16-17, 21

Additional Scriptures: Galatians 5:17, 6:19-21, 1 Peter 1:23, Romans 8:18-19, 28, 37-39, James 1:21, Acts 17:24-28

POINTS:

  • We all struggle with a distorted self-image.

  • We are born with a corrupted seed, which scripture calls our flesh.

  • The world and the devil nurture the corrupted seed so that it bears fruit (Gal. 6:19-21)

  • When we receive the uncorrupted seed of Christ, we no longer look at the external or regard others or ourselves from a worldly point of view.

  • Before we were in Christ we regarded Christ as a tool in achieving our own agendas.

  • “Christianity is not out to make nicer people, but to make new people.” CS Lewis

  • Nice people don’t grow, new people do.

  • Nice people have no hope for failures, new people do.

  • Our future is tied to our identity as a new creation.

  • Our new nature is in a cocoon. We are in a transitional struggle.

  • The battle is meant to strengthen our wings so we can fly.

  • To persevere in the battle of transformation we must come under the authority of God’s word.

  • Seek to know God in scripture and you will come to know who you really are.

  • “If I get to be like me, I belong. If I have to be like you, I fit in” Brene Brown
