MEDITATION & PRAYER

Pastor Hope Flask

March 2, 2025

Main Scripture: Psalm 1:1-6

Additional Scriptures: Colossians 2:7, John 10:9-10, Matthew 7:13-14, James 1:2-6, Psalm 103:1-2, 22:14-15

POINTS:

  • Meditating on the Word of God is Listening to Him before we express our emotions to Him.

  • The law of the Lord is the revelation of God’s character through the person of Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus is the gate by which we enter the Law of the Lord.

  • Meditation: to think deeply or focus one's mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting or murmuring. To patiently ponder the word by repeating the scripture over and over, putting emphasis on different words.

  • We are always meditating.

  • The key to which path you choose and your progression on either path is what you meditate on.

  • The counsel of the wicked - meditating on the accusations of Satan.

  • To stand in the way of a sinner - having a life bent on sin.

  • To sit in the seat of mockers - becoming an accusing voice to others.

  • Satan tries to get us to meet legitimate needs through illegitimate methods.

  • Satan is an interpreter, not an author, so don’t give him the pen.

  • Meditation serves as a bridge to prayer.

  • SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, & Prayer.

  • When we meditate on what Jesus has done for us, we are taken past conviction to delight.
