WORSHIP

Main Scripture: Psalm 34

Additional Scriptures: Luke 18:9-14, 2 Corinthians 12:9, Matthew 16:24, 5:16

POINTS:

  • The word “Psalm” translates to a sacred song or poem used in worship.

  • We must learn what worship is and how to engage our hearts in such a way that we leave transformed.

  • To magnify means to make Christ large in our lives.

  • Together we can magnify the Lord by learning how we should approach God in worship.

  • We struggle to magnify the Lord because of our cultural baggage that tells us to magnify ourselves.

  • In our worship, we keep trying to dress up the backdrop instead of magnifying Christ. We magnify our features or our flaws.

  • In worship we tend to look for the stage to stand on instead of the step to kneel on.

  • It is through knowing Jesus that we come to know ourselves.

  • “For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

  • Christianity is not a religion of self-actualization, but instead is of self-denial.

  • Repentance begins by fearing he Lord, which is to magnify Him.

  • A Christian’s life is characterized by repentance.

  • The darkness of your life can become the backdrop for God’s glory.
