Fear Not: Attaching in a New WAY

FEAR NOT

FAITH (attaching in a new WAY)

April 21, 2024

Main Scripture: Matthew 14:24-45

Additional Scriptures: 1 John 4:18, Romans 8:34, Mark 6:52, Acts 7:55-56, & 59-60

POINTS:

  • 4 S’s of Secure Attachment: Seen, Soothed, Safe, & Secure.

  • Social Engagement System (SES): facilitates various physical and emotional reactions such as facial expressions, emotional tone, body language, physical touch, and perception of a parent’s intention. It dictates our ability to handle difficult situations.

  • Obeying God can sometimes lead to rough sailing.

  • Jesus sees us and interceds for us in prayer.

  • Jesus comes to us on the very problems we are overcome by - to soothe us and safely secure us to Him.

  • Are you looking for the way out instead of the WAY through?

  • Peter attaches to Jesus for soothing, safety, & security instead of man-made devices.

  • When you change your focus, you change your stability.

  • Faith involves movement - Fear will keep you stagnant.

  • Little faith is when you use your faith to start attaching to Jesus, but circumstances cause you to stop.

  • Jesus is the FINISHER of our faith.

  • God uses impossible situations to rewire our SES so that we know we are seen, soothed, safe, and secure.
