Main Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-20
Additional Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, 16-18, Romans 5:1, 8:7, 1 John 4:18
POINTS:
Expectations: The lens through which we view life.
The shoes of the Gospel of Peace provide…
Traction: Godfidence in battle.
Protection: Spiritual toughness (Perseverance).
Mobility: Joy (A buoyancy of spirit that lightness to the weight of strenuous battle).
Joy comes from looking at God’s faithfulness to us in the past and looking ahead to the hope of glory that awaits us.
We become incapacitated because we put on the wrong shoes in battle.
Peace: A confident trust in God’s wise control over your life.
Before we can have peace from God we must have peace with God.
Our flesh is at war with God.
Our hostility towards God comes from unmet expectations and our anxiety shows us where this hostility lies.
When we are at peace with God our expectations of life change. We stop asking questions like “Why do bad things happen to good people?”, and instead we ask “Why do good things happen to sinners like me?”
Our hostility with God sleeps deep and we must wrestle it out with Him in prayer.
Wrestling = Readiness.
