THE ARMOR OF GOD: The Breastplate of Righteousness
Pastor Hope Flask
September 22, 2024
Main Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-20
Additional Scriptures: Philippians 3:4-11, Romans 10:3-4, Hebrews 4:13, 2 Cor. 5:21, John 3:17, 1 John 1:9, Ephesians 1:4-6
POINTS:
Breastplate: Covers our deepest feelings about ourselves.
Satan prosecutes us by accusing our consciences.
Righteousness: whatever we use to lift our heads and look at the world and say I have nothing to be ashamed of; I am presentable.
Everyone wears a breastplate.
We are all working towards a verdict.
Our self-image is the accumulation of verdicts.
We repress our unrighteousness before God and project it onto others.
Religious breastplate: Trying harder.
Psychological breastplate: God takes you just as you are.
Imputed righteousness: God has transferred the liability of your record to Jesus and His record onto you.
Imparted righteousness: The fruit of the Spirit.
Application:
Ask the Holy Spirit to examine your motives
Cross-examine those motives with imputed righteousness and ask the question - who told you that?
Talk back to those motives with the truth of God’s word.
May our chant be “Another good soldier for Christ”
